22 YEARS IN ASIA! KEY PROJECTS

Welcome to part 2 of our celebration of 22 years in Asia, where we look at key projects that have defined us and our vision. To see part 1, please click the link at the end of the article.

NDA has grown exponentially over the past 22 years in Asia. We’ve broadened our areas of expertise, our network of partners, and indeed our project locations.

What has stayed the same is our vision of making the world better for people and places through architectural excellence.

In this second part of celebrating 22 milestone projects, we look at how we facilitate people to interact with nature; through sport, education, and tourism – allowing them to deeply understand nature and give the impetus to protect it for further generations.

Songhua Lake Plots 2-3, China

Songhua Lake is a flagship site for China's growing winter sports and alpine recreation scene, and NDA's design flair creates a built environment where visitors stay truly inspired.

Plots 2 & 3 constitute a community of built apartments with an iconic swooping roof design that truly echoes the majestic mountains of Songhua Lake.

Songhua Lake Plot 6, China

Plot 6 is where we designed a serviced apartment complex that breathes new life into this classic ski resort.

Combining classic alpine design elements with characteristic NDA flair, the serviced apartments on Plot 6 inspire warmth and community even on the coldest of days.

Hau Giang DIC Hotel, Vietnam

DIC Star Hotel is the manifestation of NDA’s vision of sustainable development where commerce is facilitated in a manner that is positive to the environment. Thus the DIC Star Hotel’s is designed like the landscape of the Mekong region, with a melaleuca leaf like façade.

Nha Trang Marina Theatre, Vietnam

With the Nha Trang Marina Theatre, we seek to echo Vietnam’s spectacular coastline whilst highlighting local culture and ecological best practises to create a hub that puts this area on the map of world-famous waterfront destinations.

Long Tan Urban Tourism Area Planning, Vietnam

"The most modern ecological complex in Vietnam" is the lofty goal we set to achieve at Long Tan. We realise this by combining cutting edge innovation alongside LOHAS principles to create distinct yet interconnected districts catering to residents, commerce, and tourists.

Chengde Cuili Valley Mountain Planning, China

Set close to Beijing, Chengde Cuili Valley’s major traffic would be coming from China’s capital city, thus we plan an all-season, all-weather escape for the whole family, where good times are guaranteed come rain or shine.

Kunming Hotel, China

Kunming Hotel has been long been a landmark in the capital city of Yunnan province. We looked to bring the hotel into the 21st century whilst carefully preserving the historical structure and heritage it embodies.

In Kunming Hotel we see connection everywhere, and the Cloud Bridge respresents this perfectly, connecting the hotel's north and south wings whilst symbolising past and future together, and inspiring people and place.

Taishun Seed Planet, China

Taishun Seed Planet puts all the wonder of science, art, and nature into an adventure park where concepts and activities are as valuable as the built structure. NDA strives to design an interactive centre where children learn by immersive action.

Tianjin Indoor Ski Centre, China

The Urban Indoor Snow Park is the zenith of snow themed FECs (Family Entertainment Centre) which combats the limitation of skiing being seasonal, by providing an incredibly authentic ski experience whilst also allowing for winter escapes all year round.

Mui Dinh South Resort, Vietnam

The creativity and splendour of the Mui Dinh South Resort was awarded winner of the Leisure & Hospitality Section of the Cityscape Awards 2019. This is a huge honour as Cityscape Awards are seen as some of the most influential in the design industry.

Xiaomeisha Ocean Mountain Park Planning, China

From our Jurassic coastline IP (intellectual property) to legendary concerts, to incredible nature and a multitude of sports, NDA’s planning of Xiaomeisha is set to change the way the world sees Shenzhen, whilst driving tourism that will help integrate and anchor the Greater Bay Area as one of the world’s most important regions.
