Anhui TV Centre: Inspiring Confidence and Consciousness

A decade of symbolising Anhui Province

The NDA designed Anhui TV Centre is arguably Anhui province’s most transformational building ever. This breath-taking structure broke records at its completion, but it is as much about what the building symbolises, as what it is, that matters.

We set out to create an iconic design that inspires a new era of confidence and consciousness toward sustainable development and Chinese culture, whilst ably fulfilling the need to create and broadcast around the clock, all whilst making an impactful statement of the future of Anhui.

So then, how does the formerly longest building in China pioneer a path for a new future that creates tangible change for people and place?

Inspiring Confidence

Anhui TV Center was put into use in 2012 and that era marked an inflection point for China as a country. It was around this time a burgeoning interest in its own culture began after decades of strict focus on developing in terms of economy and internationalisation.

In signature NDA style we fused cutting edge technology with traditional local culture, like the modern double layered façade which is adorned with Chinese calligraphy visible even from afar, and the fact that this goliath building is shaped like that an unfurling scroll of paper, a famously Chinese invention.

Inside, sits Asia’s largest multifunctional studio theatre from where timeless entertainment like Chinese New Year shows are filmed and broadcast to millions of homes, and the state of the art lobby’s design is inspired by the pine trees found at Anhui’s most famous tourism Destination, Yellow Mountain. and

Anhui TV Centre, then, is an iconic conglomeration of ancient and modern, marking the collective history of millennia with the expectations of future generations.

Elevating Consciousness

The effectiveness of any city investment is benchmarked by how it meaningfully improves the quality of life for residents, and in this case we see a marked rise in interest in LOHAS lifestyle.

Anhui TV Centre spearheads this consciousness with pioneering green technology using nearby Swan Lake’s water for a pump heating system. This same lake is the scene for droves of people coming to gather for exercise, socialising, and play, by a rare expanse of water fringed by greenery.

Locals frequently speak about how Anhui TV Centre is a hotspot in the city with its iconic design and proximity to the lake, and proudly share selfies with the building in the background.

Landmark Architecture

NDA has a storied history of designing landmark projects that bring about tangible transformation. We seek to create buildings that bring about meaningful change for people and place, helping drive innovation, sustainable development, and new lifestyles.

We are encouraged in our mission by the constant recognition we receive – and with Anhui TV Centre we have created an instant icon whose image has been adorned across countless posters, has been voted as Anhui’sthe city’s most iconic building, and has even gone viral online with millions of views globally. even received millions of views when it went globally viral a decade after completion.
